Cycling holidays

Whether along the Rhine or the Danube, or rather over mountain passes: explore Europe by bicycle. Your bicycle can travel in designated zones on many trains departing from Switzerland.

Reasons for cycling holidays by train

Inexpensive: The bike transport costs only around CHF 20 extra per bike.

Flexible: Get off the train in one place, do your cycle tour, and then travel back home from another place. With the train, you are not tied to a vehicle and can organise your bike tour however you like.

Direct: There are numerous train connections from Switzerland on which you can easily take your bicycle without having to change trains. Wherever possible, we will reserve seats for you right next to the bicycle zone.

Information about travelling with a bike

In bike spaces or packed in a Transbag

Many international long-distance trains and most regional trains in Europe offer dedicated bike racks where bikes can be conveniently parked for the journey. The bike can be hung up and locked on the bike hooks during the journey, while you can enjoy your journey in your compartment or in the bistro.

Bicycle spaces are rare, especially in summer, so it’s worth booking early. If you have booked through us, the bike spaces are also reserved. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about your bike not being allowed on the train.

On trains without bike spaces, bikes can be transported in special bike bags (Transbags).
